Geography within the framework of the Bachelor in Sociology

Module Human Geography I / II for Sociology

The two Human Geography Modules (I and II) are available as compulsory optional subjects for the degree B.A. Sociology: The selection of both modules as compulsory optional subjects can only be chosen in exceptional cases (B.A. Sociology and Politics -> Please submit an application to Mr. Vollmer). A cross between both modules is not possible.

Modul Humangeographie I (für Soziologiestudierende) 8,5 LP (MNF-Geogr.-03b = WSF-soz-G3b1) (in German)

Human Geography I is offered every winter semester covering the Economic and Cultural Geography. The module totals 8.5 credit hours and includes:
   

  1. Human Geography I Lecture Course with an exam
  2. an accompanying seminar to Human Geography I with a term paper and presentation
  3. Excursions/Field Practicums do not have to be attended!


(This module is identical to the Geography-Module MNF-Geogr.03 with the EXCEPTION of the EXCURSIONS.)

The registration for the accompanying seminars takes place during the welcoming week in October. Due to organizational factors, seminar spots are only available in the 2-Subject-Bachelor seminars. There is no registration necessary for the lecture course. The excursions can be attended voluntarily.

Course times for both the lecture course and accompanying seminars can be found on UNIVIS under “Lecture Directory > Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences > Geography > -Fächer-Bachelor > 3. Semester > MNF-Geogr.-03: Humangeographie I”.

FAQ:

  1. No, the lecture course from Monday will not be repeated on Tuesdays. The lecture is a four-hour lecture! (Monday afternoons AND Tuesday mornings!)
  2. Again, the lecture takes place four hours a week (2 hours on Monday afternoons AND 2 hours on Tuesday mornings). The sum of 3 hours a week (3 SWS) is a result of class cancellations and bank holidays.
  3. The two excursion days can be voluntarily attended. In order to achieve the 8.5 credit hours, these excursion days do not need to be attended.

Human Geography II is offered every summer semester covering Population, Social and Urban Geography. The module totals 8.5 credit hours and includes:
 

  1. Human Geography II Lecture Course with an exam
  2. an accompanying seminar to Human Geography II with a term paper and presentation
  3. Excursions/Field Practicums do not have to be attended!


(This module is identical to the Geography-Module MNF-Geogr.04 with the EXCEPTION of the excursions.)
